Installing a skill
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file in it, plus any scripts or reference files it needs. SKILL.md is an open format: the AI reads the description, and when your request matches it loads the rest of the instructions. Each skill page has a one-line install command for your AI.
Claude Code
Unzip the skill into ~/.claude/skills/ (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.claude\skills\), or into .claude/skills/ inside one project. Start a new session and ask for something that matches the skill, or call it with /skill-name.
Codex
Unzip the skill into ~/.codex/skills/ (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codex\skills\) and start a new Codex session.
Other coding agents
Many agents read skills from ~/.agents/skills/ or a project's own skills folder. Check your tool's docs for where it looks, then unzip the skill there.
Chat apps (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and others)
In the Claude app you can upload the .zip as a custom skill (Settings, then Capabilities). For any other chat AI, open the skill page, press Copy SKILL.md and paste it into the AI's custom instructions, a project's instructions, or straight into the chat. Attach reference files if the skill mentions them.

Some skills ship a LOCAL.template.md. Copy it to LOCAL.md and fill in your own paths; that file stays on your machine.
